One Step Closer To Tokyo

Wednesday June 30th is a day to remember for judo in Ontario.

Today, after an almost three year qualification period, marks a tremendous achievement for two Ontario athletes who have been officially nominated by Judo Canada to the Canadian Olympic Committee to represent Team Canada at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games.


Newly crowned -57kg world champion Jessica Klimkait and -100kg World #8 Shady El Nahas will be making their olympic debuts and make up one third of the judo team competing in Japan next month.


The -57kg division will compete on Monday 26th July 11.00am Japan Standard Time (Sunday 25th July 10pm EST)


The -100kg division will compete on Thursday 29th July at 11.00am Japan Standard Time (Wednesday 28th July 10pm EST)

With both athletes into their final preparation phase for Tokyo 2020, Judo Ontario wishes them the greatest success at these Games! All of Ontario, and Canada, are extremely proud of you both!


These nominations have been approved by the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Team Selection Committee sealing the athletes official selection to Team Canada.
