World Judo Championships - May 2023

Team Canada is ready to compete at the World Judo Championships in Doha, Qatar, May 7-14th. Canada is sending a team of 9 athletes, including Ontario athletes Jessica Klimkait (-57kg, Ajax Budokan) and Shady El Nahas (-100kg, JCCC-Judo Kai). Jessica is making her sixth trip to World Championships and is looking to add another medal to her already impressive Gold and Bronze from '21 and '22. She comes into the event ranked 3rd behind fellow Canadian Christa Deguchi. Shady is looking to improve on his streak of placing in the top 8 in his three previous visits to World Championships, coming into the event ranked 4th in the world.

Schedule:

  • All times are 7hrs ahead of Ontario (ET)

  • Preliminary rounds start between 10:30am and 11:30am (3:30-4:30am ET)

  • Final block starts at 6:00pm each day (11am ET)
