Judo Ontario Men are Golden at the Canada Winter Games

After handily defeating the teams from P.E.I. and B.C., Judo Ontario men went on to challenge Team Quebec for the gold medal in the 2015 Canada Winter Games.  In an exciting series of matches full of spectacular ippons, Ontario men defeated Quebec in 4 out of 5 matches to capture the gold.  This result was aligned with the individual results where Ontario men took 4 gold medals out of 7 divisions two days earlier.  A truly outstanding achievement and performance!

Because of medical withdrawals, Judo Ontario’s women were forced to compete with only three team members.  Despite this challenge, the women were able to defeat Saskatchewan to make it to the semi-finals against Alberta.  After losing the semi-final, the women were then faced with B.C. in the bronze medal match.  All three women won their matches putting Ontario on the podium with a bronze medal finish.  It was such an incredible show of grit and determination.

Judo Ontario is proud of the accomplishments of these talented young judoka.  Congratulations to athletes, parents and dojo shus!
