A tough finish in his second Paralympics

After his first match loss in the -90kg division on Sept 10th, Tony was eliminated from his second Paralympic games.

An experienced fighter in both the able-bodied and paralympic categories, the Ontario athlete was expected to go further in the tournament.

His first fight was against the Argentinian Jorge Lencina, who took the gold medal from last year's Para Pan-Am's and bronze from the previous games in London.

It was a good fight, but the Argentinian came ahead with a throw for a waza-ari, that lead to a hold down for the second waza-ari needed to win the match.

“I tried to get a left grip and go left on him, but he controlled the grip the whole match. I tried to keep him at bay, but he did a really nice job with his attack and was able to hold me down for 15 seconds.” - Walby after the fight
