After a long journey to the games, Canada's -57kg athlete, Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard lost in the first round to Hungary over a shido for non-combativity.
Catherine was seeded well for the games, having placed 5th at the 2016 World Championships and going into the tournament ranked 14th by the IJF.
“Looking back now, I should have kept her in the arm lock, but of course, hindsight is 20-20.”
