Judo Ontario hires new Executive Director

Toronto, ON – Judo Ontario is pleased to announce that Allan Koyanagi of Mississauga has been named as it’s new Executive Director effective May 4, 2009.  
“Allan is a career sport administrator with 28 years of management and event experience.  He brings to Judo Ontario extensive professional history with an international reputation for exceeding expectations” said Judo Ontario President Charlie Formosa.  “I look forward to working with Allan and am confident that he will be an instrumental asset to the Association.”
Koyanagi’s management experience includes both professional and amateur sports in domestic and international markets including: Toronto Blue Jays (1984-1994), Summer Olympic Games (1996, Atlanta), Pan American Games (1999, Winnipeg), Skate Canada (1999-2003), World Figure Skating Championships (2001, Vancouver), TFCN Asian Games (2006, Doha, Qatar) and the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup (Toronto).  He most recently served as Operations Manager at Cambridge Gymnastics.  
In addition, Koyanagi was also a member of the Canadian Olympic Committee Mission Staff at the 2002 (Salt Lake City), 2006 (Torino) Olympic Winter Games, and 2008 (Beijing) Summer Olympic Games.  He has also served as a consultant to numerous international projects including the 2012 Olympic Bid for the City of Tampa and to Global Sports Partners of Los Angeles.

Judo Ontario is a non-profit organization recognized by Judo Canada and the Ministry of Health and Promotion as the provincial governing body for the sport of judo in Ontario.
